1. So the picture i paint is that the hotel is dated, but if you are staying a night or 2 , I can recommend it.

4. It is not a hotel on a par with the hotels of Maui or Oahu, but it is also not a majpr tourist are - it is the wet side of Big Island, but I recommend it a a little different.

8. If you're going ot stay at Hilo this is a good pick, but I recommend Kona because it rained the entire time we were there.

That said, it is a very clean, comfortable and friendly and a great staging place for trips up the Hamakua coast to Waimea, if you're so inclined (we were not), and within an easy 30 minute drive from Volcanoes National Park ( I would still recommend staying just outside the park in Volcano village).
