1. Outside the hotel were also about 5-6 restaurants, including a McDonald's, that we saw within a (short) one block area that were more reasonably priced then we could find in downtown.

2. We stayed here, away from downtown, figuring it may be a nice retreat after a day of sightseeing, however we were so busy each day we never really got back to the hotel until late.

5. The room was on the 7th floor with a beautiful park view, the Metro was close-by, the concierge was always helpful (particularly in recommending the Oceanaire Seafood restaurant which was delightful) and the Segway tour of downtown was an enjoyable surprise.

7. It was nice to stay in a hotel that had some local ambiance rather than being locked in downtown near the Capitol where everything shuts down at 6pm.

8. If possible, I'd give a rating of 3.5The good: It is the historic past host of many a presidential inaugural ball, etc.; it's lobby is pretty ornate; it's garden in the back is beautiful and inviting; the gym and pool (although I didn't get to use) are good; the service is great; location is good - walking distance to the zoo and about 3 metro stops from downtown/ the national mall.
