1. We stayed in a newly renovated room with a street view.

2. There is also the Old Ebbett's Grill on 15th--a famous restaurant in DC that has very reasonable prices, and we ate lunch at the POV terrace in the W hotel--also on 15th St--food and service were so-so, but the views are stunning from the top of the hotel.

8. Queue up at the small building near the Washington Monument (on Washington Monument Drive) and get tickets (free) to go up the top of the monument, it is excellent - great views.

Moments away from The White House, The National Portrait Gallery, Macey's etc. with a metro just outside the hotel to go further to Tysons Corner/Gallery or Capitol Hil or Arlington etc.Room was 502, a corner room, lots of space and good views, two double beds, very clean with shower, fridge, microwave and a brilliant but small swimming pool in the basement.
