1. Thinking it would be a good opportunity for my family to checkout DC and maybe take some awesome photos, I brought my family and gear (more on the photography/family mix in another post).

2. Before I get to the various negative experiences we had, I want to point out a couple of positives: the room was wonderful (bed, pullout bed/couch, full kitchen, free Internet), the free breakfast was delicious, the store downstairs was convenient and offered a large selection of sundries and souvenirs, and the person we spoke to at checkout (Kara, a trainee) was very helpful and friendly.

3. We had a late flight and requested late checkout but they were not able to accomodate.

4. I told her that every hotel (including Marriotts) that we`d stayed in had offered a late checkout, although we`d never used it on the trip.

5. When I approached one of those rude front desk clerks about checking out an hour late, she told me checkout is 11am, and we could store our bags downstairs.

6. There is a limited parking garage at an extra $34 a night, and just because you get a spot on your first night there, and your pass is dated to your checkout date, that does not guarantee that your spot will be there if you leave for the day.
