1. Room wasn't super clean and smelled strange on arrival.
2. I couldn't stand the smell in the room and called the front desk.
3. A couple of cons: the bathroom was somewhat awkwardly built and smelled of mildew - sometimes you could smell mildew in the room as well.
4. I had a huge room, a king-sized bed (bed bug free), and my room didn't have the old damp musty stale smell that many of the older establishments have.
5. Our room also had a mildew smell and the wall A/C was loud when it clicked on.
6. But the next day we asked them to change her into a better room, which did not smell like smoke.
7. I was a bit hesitant about staying here as the old-world, classical style is not my aesthetic and I feared that the age of the hotel would result in hideous, foul smelling rooms.
8. The hallways lined with dirty carpet and tacky wallpaper should have been an indication that the room was going to smell like a musty basement and a dirty ashtray.
9. The rooms are wonderful and smell great when you enter them.
10. The night we arrived we we given a room that we didn't like, smelled funky and it was right next to the elevators, ice machine, and a service area.

11. Next, the negatives: (1) completed online check in (received e-mail with 'Your room is ready') only to find room not ready; (2) once a room was finally located (room 230), we entered to find it lookiing directly out at a large mass of air conditioning units--asked to switch since staying six nights--took two requests and finally ended up in this room for two nights then moved to room 730--same room but nice view; (3) requested sheet set for pullout sofa at 6:00 p.m.--returned at 11:15 p.m. wanting to quickly put kids to bed but no sheets delivered; (4) requested wake up call, was asked if we'd like a second call 15 minutes later, we said yes, they did not call (yes, we needed the second call that day); (5) returned at 7:30 p.m. one evening to find our morning coffee tray still sitting outside our room (I'm being picky on this one); (6) used stairwell to save time because of slow elevators, and the east stairwell smelled really awful, as did the halls on the east end--the west stairwell and halls smelled fine; (7) pool and surroundings are very pretty, but at least when we were there, the water was very dirty (husband told me not to wear my goggles and look under water because it was disgusting); (8) we have a son with a life threatening food allergy so asked about food at the pool bar and was told they'd get back to me but never did.

12. Sure, the lobby is fine but once we got to our room it smelled awful.

14. Went to this hotel for 6 nights, the Hotel could only put us in a smoking room when I informed them I would not be happy with this was told no other rooms available, offered a machine to take the smell away, and then had a member of staff banging on our door at approx 12.20am to take this machine away, advised the staff member to come back in the morning, we then had phone calls and had to get out of bed and dressed to give the machine back not very happy with this but.

15. Last comment: The kitchen always uses A LOT of garlic right around 11:00am each day - and the smell got pulled right into my room above the kitchen!(But at least I like garlic.

16. It did have a balcony so that was nice but the hotel itself needs to be updated as the rooms were musty and smelled.
17. The hotel is absolutely outstanding in every respect:-easy to drive to-the valet parking guys were helpful and friendly-the porter was welcoming-gorgeous lobby-the room smelled clean, and it was spic and span-we ate our first meal at the hotel (the Marquee bar?), and the crab cakes were the best meal of our vacation-the bed and pillows were super comfy-the room was quiet-room service was super fast-the view from the room was great (looking south you can see the Washington Monument)-the buffet breakfast was the best we have ever had-driving: -about 10 minutes to the Kennedy Center-walking -four minutes to the greatest burritos east of CaliforniaWe got the 'Zoo' package which included parking and breakfast -great value.

18. Our room had ashtrays and matches readily available and our nice fluffy pillows smelled like smoke.
19. Never accept a room in this hotel floor/area, the room smelled burnt oil, the noise is unbearable and the view awful (exhausts and brick terrace, but next morning I asked another room and I was offered the one on the seventh.

20. Cons: I left the first room because it smelled of 'baby diapers,' and they immediately gave us a new room, but the 2nd room smelled similarly.
21. Hopefully they will desist using this product as it smelled like a nursery or a nursing home: a very negative association of spoiled diapers that permeated the room and tainted my whole experience of the hotel.
22. They did give me a room, It looked nice - yet still had a smell, but not bad.
23. I got there, the room had a smell, but not nearly as bad.
24. The room was acceptable, although being an older hotel, it had that older hotel smell.
25. We arrived around 8:30 a.m. and didn`t expect to be able to check in, but they found two rooms next to each other, albeit smoking rooms when we wanted non-, but they said they`d just been renovated and that there should be no smell of smoke, and if we wanted to check we could see the rooms before checking in, which we did.

26. Upon driving up the property was not that impressive - BUT upon stepping out of the taxi things started picking up - from first greeting to the final greeting during my 5 night stay the staff were excellent - the concierge could have handled an attitude adjustment (not helpful, not friendly, seemed annoyed to be asked routine questions) but all other staff were among the best in my travels - beautiful scented lobby (smelled of fresh flowers which were prominently displayed) & the lobby seating areas were well enjoyed by guests in conversation - the elevators were small & slow, but the hotel is older & has such historical significance that it really didn`t matter - history was tastefully displayed - it was like being in a museum if you cared to read all the information scattered around the property (even on the cards left in the room at night during the turn down service!) - speaking of turn down: I had that service free and without request as an Omni Select guest (a great immediate satisfaction rewards program), but it`s available free upon request to all other guests - another Select guest benefit is the free morning beverage selection delivered to your room with your morning paper (2 beverages, cold &/or hot) - the room was large with a view of the very nice pool & hot tub & the adjacent residential area of impressive homes - other than slamming guest room doors there was no noise from adjacent rooms - the hallways were quiet & the ice machines were enclosed in a room behind a door so there was no noise, nor was there noise from the elevator - the gift shop & snack shop were nice - I never visited the hotel restaurant but I had a sample taste in the lobby one evening and the bite was quite tasty & friends who dined there spoke well of it - I had room service 5 days & every day it was timely in delivery & relatively correct in the order & the food was better than decent - I was at the Omni for a conference & did not think they could handle the large attendance & yet the staff functioned smoothly to move crowds in the right directions - well done - we would have thought we were the only guests.
