6. We love the Kauai Sands the way it is and, while we hope it's maintained as well as possible, we also hope it never 'upgrades' to a $400 a night copy of the Princeville Resort or Poipu Hilton.

7. After settling in we returned to the check in counter where the lovely lady who checked us in then explained everything to us we needed to know in the area such as local shopping and how to get there including giving us a bus timetable and explaining where to catch it.
