1. The room had a bit of that stale hotel carpet smell, and the hallway carpet was a little bit stained, as though there had been a plumbing problem in the room at some point that had spilled into the hall.

3. And like the other choice in the neighborhood - On the Ave - it is also the permanent home to at least several long-term residents grandfathered in by NY rent control laws, so don't be surprised to smell cooking or see a small family living in a one room.
