If you want to stay in a real Manhattan neighborhood, as opposed to the touristy, crowded and
noisy
Midtown/Times Square area, this is a great choice.

It is off Broadway so is not nearly as
noisy
as something on B'way but easily walkable to everything on the upper west side.

My main complaint was that the windows were only a single pane of glass, so it was both
noisy
and actually pretty chilly if you sat next to it.

On the other side of the wall of our bathroom is where the vending and ice machines are, so it can be a bit
noisy
.

While it was a little
noisy
at night (on account of the street noise - but hey this is NY), the area is an upscale residential neighbourhood with families, kids and dog walkers abound.

Who wants to spend more money to stay in
noisy
Midtown when beautiful, peaceful Central Park is a 5-minute walk from The Lucerne? An early morning summer walk or jog around the nearby Jackie Kennedy Onassis Reservoir can't be beat.

On the whole, I slept well at the Lucerne, with the exception of Friday night, when the sports bar across the street (Bourbon St, I think) was very
noisy
with music and people late into the early hours.

There was an a/c unit next to the window - rather
noisy
and rattly, but then it's an older hotel, so to be expected.
