2. I know the trains are out of their control but this noise really impacted badly on our enjoyment of the city and our holiday in general as we could not get a proper nights sleep.

3. ' As the ventilation is non-existant, we had to keep the sliding door on the balcony open all the time, which means we had the constant noise of the trains all day and night.

4. I've read about the train noise from behind but I guess if you read trip advisor before booking a room anywhere then don't book a room at the rear of this hotel.
"Great stay " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/2/2012 Vote
5. Nice hotel, shame about the noise, trains running all night and blowing their horns, we stayed on the 12th floor on a very windy night, absolutly awful, the wind screamed throught the balcony door all night, sounded like the train was in our room.
"If you want quiet this is not the place to Stay " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/30/2012 Vote
6. When I rung reception they told me to put a towel up against the door, when I asked if they had other complaints the answer was no, but in the lift the next morning one couple said they had to go outside to bring in the balcony furniture it was moving around so much and making a terrible noise.

7. I didn't notice any street or train noise in particular, but since we had an early day, we took a nap in the afternoon.

8. We paid much less for a flexible/cancellable room rate than we would have at the Grand Hyatt or the Marriott Marquis, both of which have bay view rooms, are newer, and would probably have less air traffic noise.
"overall, a good stay " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/30/2012 Vote
9. So this hotel has a great location if you save yourself the aggravation of the noise by asking for a harbor view in a high room.
"Great Bay View (South Tower) but stay away from the Train side " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/28/2012 Vote
10. This did two things: (1) got us away from the train noise that everyone had complained about if you stay in the other tower that faces the train tracks with all the incessant dinging of the crossing rails and the blowing of the train horns, and (2) got a great view of the harbor in a serviceable (but dated) room, with a balcony.
