Second stay I was in room 1814 on the side above the shoppes - the beds are new but it is
dated
and it's the no frills side of the hotel (Marriott Platinum member - my room wasn't ready but I was exhausted so the told me it wasn't as nice as the room I was slotted for initially).

Compared to other hotels in the area, we think it offers the best value: larger room sizes, less
dated
than other hotels, up
dated
furniture and carpets in the rooms, excellent view and generous size and comfort of public areas.

I gave it a four star because it's a tad
dated
, needs some renos, and been to better hotels in Waikiki in the past.

My first impression is that it is
dated
but so are most hotels in this area, I would say it is on the better side of
dated

The Kealohilani tower is the one that has been renovated more recently and has a much more up-to-date feel, while the room in the Paoakalani tower feel quite
dated
