The Mason Beach Inn felt like it was skimming on the price point of the neighborhood, without giving much more than a modernized Motel 6 provides (we stayed at three different Motel 6's on this same trip, near Disneyland and up north off I-5, and were much happier with those due to their value for the money).

4. The motel is maybe 3-4 blocks away from the train station and a nice walk through a residential neighborhood.

5. We needed to find a place for the third night which we had not previously planned on staying (Santa Barbara is like that!) There are lots of small hotels in this neighborhood, and I'm afraid we chose the wrong one, though on short notice this was one of the only ones available.
