1. This hotel was superb value for money - lovely, large, spotless, rooms (with two, very comfy, queen sized beds), large pool and jacuzzi, friendly, helpful staff and a free breakfast which included pastries, juices, cereals etc. Very conveniently situated for the beach, seafront and pier.

2. The rooms there were smartly appointed with big terry robes to wear, nice furniture and interior decorating, lovely views out to the harbor and pier (at least from our 3rd floor front building), balconies, large closets for luggage overflow, etc. There was just no comparison for the money spent.

3. The Mason Beach Inn felt like it was skimming on the price point of the neighborhood, without giving much more than a modernized Motel 6 provides (we stayed at three different Motel 6's on this same trip, near Disneyland and up north off I-5, and were much happier with those due to their value for the money).

6. However, I would expect the hotel staff to act like they care about their guests, take ownership of the problem, apologize, assure us they will take the necessary precautions (ie bed bug dog inspection, pest control visit, etc), and give us some or all of our money back.
