1. If you are looking for a place near the nightlife and all the restaurants on State Street, there are plenty of hotel options downtown.

2. Bacara is located near the UC Santa Barbara campus in Goleta, so it is north of downtown (about a 10-15 minute drive on the 101).

3. I don't believe any hotels in Santa Barbara have their own beach access (those closer to downtown are CLOSE to the beach, but not on the beach itself).

4. Do your homework though - if you want to explore downtown Santa Barbara, it might make more sense to stay at the Canary Hotel or the Fess Parker.
