1. Only one person working on at the front desk, and that person also has to take care of other stuff, like parking.

You should expect a silent night - the hotel is in the heart of the Gaslamp District which stays awake until 2 a.m. You should also not expect great parking - you are in the heart of the city but you can expect shopping and restaurants and a waterfront walk right from the hotel doorstep, efficient and pleasant staff and courteous service.

5. Cafe 222 is just in the next block, and a diagonal cut through the public parking lot next to it takes you right to the Marriott end of the convention center.

7. Amtrak is just over a half mile from the Horton, and if we had taken a taxi from Amtrak it would have cost less than the parking.

9. Second, and I know this will seem nit-picking but it was pretty important to us at the time, they had no change for metered parking outside.

10. In case you don't know, there is no non-metered parking in the Gaslamp area.
