1. The only slight negative is that some of the rooms could be a decent walk from the front desk but other than that this is a quality place without all the hustle and bustle of Disney.

2. There is a water taxi at the Portofino Bay dock which shuttles back and forth from the hotel to Universal City Walk every 10-15 minutes and is very efficient and pleasant.

6. I have stayed here about 10 times (until I discovered the Hard Rock is just as nice, rooms a little smaller but within walking distance of both theme parks.
