4. There are better options in the Galleria area - give the Hilton Post Oak a try (its only a couple blocks from the Derek and is larger, newer and generally costs less than the Derek).

7. -there is no self-parking, and valet parking costs $20 a day (I think, I have never had a car with me); this also means you have to call for your car to be brought around when you want to go out, which can take a few minutes.
