We did not partake in the $6.00 Fiji water strategically placed in the room, although they could have offered Ozarka for a much cheaper

There are better options in the Galleria area - give the Hilton Post Oak a try (its only a couple blocks from the Derek and is larger, newer and generally
cost
s less than the Derek).

-there is no self-parking, and valet parking
cost
s $20 a day (I think, I have never had a car with me); this also means you have to call for your car to be brought around when you want to go out, which can take a few minutes.

Things you should be aware of: -water in the room
cost
s $7.50 a bottle, so if you're going to be there a while, it's worth heading across to the CVS to stock up at a normal price (really, what is up with charging $7.
