Summary: Charming historic hotel in a convenient, but not chic, locationPros:- Very clean and comfortable rooms- Location right next to Civic Center BART/Muni and main tourist streetcar- Good service- Very reasonable price for SF- Can walk to cable car, Union Square, and EmbarcaderoCons:- Neighborhood is near Tenderloin and has lots of street people- Walk to tourist sights in not short For me, this hotel was the perfect balance of cost, convenience and quality.

5. You can literally grab any 'inbound' muni from the hotel and be in Union Square in 2 min (the next stop inbound from the hotel is Powell) the best part is it only costs $1.50.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from San Francisco airport and there are plenty of taxi's waiting outside the arrivals area, you can book an airport shuttle bus to take you back to the airport this is located in the reception area of the hotel, it costs $17 per person which is cheaper than a local taxi.
