1. Location was great for North Beach, the Embarcadero, the Wharf, the Marina District, and even the Golden Gate Promenade was a nice walk.

2. Overall, there are not so many good restaurants close by, but the area is really convenient to North Beach, and you can catch a bus or cab to Chinatown, Polk St.
