5. Other than that warm reception, we didn't find the front desk staff overly helpful or friendly, but didn't let that deter us from enjoying the Reef Lounge which is one level down from reception and soooo relaxing at night with music and waves as our background.

6. 2) the front desk people are nice, but not too helpful - they want you to stay at the resort and spend your money there - so get a copy of HAWAII, THE BIG ISLAND REVEALED, by Andrew Doughery, to find the best deals on stuff, places to go, eat, and how to get around.
