5. The reception (front office/check in area) was only staffed when a guest was arriving (this info was relayed from the gateman as you entered).

6. As far as tipping in concerned, when you check in Kona Village will give you the option to tip automatically all your meals.

When it was time to check out, the hotel attempted to charge us over $100 per person for each luau meal, even though we were obviously guests of the resort and even though I had specifically asked the check-in receptionist upon arrival to confirm if the luau meals were included or not and she had said yes.
