1. Apart from the shower/toilet, the bathroom area itself is shared with the closet/fridge/and various storage (magazines, coffeemaker, etc) that makes that area a bit cluttered, and is bad for those of us who want a little privacy while shaving or whatever.
"Nicely located modern hotel, great bar, nice small rooms. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/31/2011 Vote
2. In the case of the bathroom, the modern design is a little bit of a shortcoming.
"Neat property, with a few glitches during the stay " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/1/2010 Vote
3. The bathroom facilities presented another uncomfortable situation.
"Need sleep, not chic " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/26/2010 Vote
4. The rest of the design issues are merely annoying:- The 'loft' concept means that the room is semi-open and if you turn on the lights in the bathroom, it also illuminates the bedroom - annoying for the other person trying to sleep in the bedroom- Similarly, there is no light over the toilet (just in the shower), so it's like sitting in a dark outhouse- There is no room service and the food choices at the hotel are limited; there are also very few good options within walking distance- For some reason, housekeeping never made it to our room.
"Aloft = AVOID " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/26/2009 Vote
5. It's concentrated in the bathroom.
"There are some problems here... " Read full review on TripAdvisor   10/9/2011 Vote
6. Decent sized, comfortable Starwood quality bed, large flat screen, modern bathroom, minimalist decor.
"W Light....Nice experience...And Free Wifi! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/25/2011 Vote
7. The room is literally a bed, desk with a hard (but cool looking chair) and a hallway that doubles as a bathroom.
"Trendy, Minimalist Hotel in a Frou-Frou, Granola-y, Tree-Hugging Way " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/13/2011 Vote
8. The shower--very cool and just as I pictured it (though I somehow missed that the toilet is right next to the shower so hopefully someone doesn't have to go to the bathroom while you are bathing).

9. I also did not like the lighting in the vanity area for the sole reason that if you needed to use the bathroom at night the entire room was lit up by the vanity area lighting.
"Fun Hotel with a few flaws. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   6/28/2011 Vote
10. Do you know how many times I've stayed at so called 5 star hotels only to find a stray hair on the wall, in the bathroom or in the bed.
"Awesome Aloft Hotel in Portland! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   6/14/2011 Vote
