1. We saw the rooms gradually get more and more dingy to the point where we no longer stayed here, but we came back when they started upgrading and remodeling.

7. The room we got was a deluxe and had the flat screen tv so can't speak about the old rooms the others stayed in, the room looked newly remodeled and a bit small but beds were new and the room including the bathroom were clean.

(you can verify the differences between the two on the kyoto grand website when you get to the reservations page w/ the rooms/rates, there are specific and obvious differences between the standard and deluxe rooms even in the description)But Maria was nice enough (given the fact taht it wasnt really busy) gave me the upgrade to the deluxe remodeled room.
