7. My room backed onto the elevator shaft (I think 2 rooms per floor back onto the elevators) and there was quite a lot of noise from the elevators that seemed to travel through the bathroom ventlation shaft.

8. The heating unit was quite noisy, as it would make loud noises as it switched on and off, as well as when it was heating up the room.

9. It was a standard double room with more space than we had anticipated and it was also fairly quiet (you could hear some light corridor noise and late night tv from the neighbours but nothing that disturbed our sleep at all).

10. )Sure, there's street noise - see above comment for what city you're in - but it was reasonable and (since I'm out of practice of dealing with NYC night noise) a pair of earplugs did me fine.
