1. Positives:*got a huge one bedroom suite on floor 24 - breathtaking view *the suite was absolutely spotlessly clean, with a triple bed which was unbelievably comfy (had a mattress topper on it), it had two bathrooms and two TVs and a large sofa bed*the staff were extremely polite and helpful - particular mention goes to the concierge (Ann I think her name was) who gave us loads of helpful advice about places to eat and how to get to Newark for a hockey game*they happily looked after our luggage when we had checked out*it's about a 10 minute walk to Grand Central Terminal - where, apart from marvelling at its beauty, you can eat in a variety of cafes/restaurants or get a subway train*it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the Newark Airport Express bus stop - really handy*you can walk to Times Square, Broadway and Empire State Building reasonably easilyOther tips:*there's a McDonald's just opposite a little to the right - handy for Wifi or if you're desperate for a late night local snack*decent, reasonably priced breakfast at the Townhouse diner round the corner on 2nd Ave - friendly and attentive staff too*good breakfast at Bloom's Deli on corner of 40th Street *you can get provisions at some nearby supermarkets but I would avoid stores labelled as 'convenience stores' as I reckoned they ripped us off knowing that we were tourists (no prices on anything)*you won't need to take a hairdryer if you're a woman - they have one in the bathroom.

4. - very friendly staff (Our receptionist Negesti did everything with a big smile, she was very friendly and helpfull)- good location (close to times square & grand central station but pretty quiet at night)- every room has a nice basic kitchen with a large fridge,microwave,cupboards,stove)- the rooms are big compared to New York standards (plenty of room to walk around)- the rooms are very clean, thanks to the good housekeeping- you can use a safe, free of charge- the furniture is decent, but not state of the art.

5. If you have more than 2 children you can't fit into most of the decent hotels in NYC unless you pay for 2 rooms.
"Good deal for large families, be wary of not getting what you reserve though " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/19/2011 Vote
6. We paid over $300 a night and I wish I'd paid another $100 for something more decent as this place is old, maximum 3* and disappointing.
"Not bad, not good. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   6/29/2011 Vote
7. Overall the hotel is a good location, and rooms are a decent size, however it is now becoming very scruffy and dirty.

9. The design could be updated as well - we actually had a very spacious living room, a decent sized bedroom with 2 double beds - and a small kitchen.
