1. The historic section of Honolulu's oldest hotel is blended in well with the newer wings and a fantastic property that I'd live at if I could.

3. It turned into a Westin Resort in 2008 and the rooms were upgraded with newer, more modern amenities including the Westin's famous Heavenly beds and showers.

4. Our room was on the 16th floor in 1 of the 2 newer towers and faced Diamond Head and the ocean, thus you can imagine the stupendous view.

9. The tower wing is much newer but our favourite part was the banyan wing which is the main part of the building get a sea or partial sea view and fall asleep to the sound of the waves through the shutters.

10. From the spacious and breezy plantation style lobby to the very comfortable rooms in the older sections of the hotel this grand old lady stands in sharp contract to the glitzy but sterile newer hotels on Waikiki Beach.
