The hallways, stairs and elevators were dingy and decidedly unlovely - bits of peeling paint, dirty walls and floors, spotty carpets, Somehow we got stuck with a room at the very back of the hotel (literally, the very last room at what seemed like the end of the line) so we actually saw quite a bit of them, certainly enough to be sure of their less than ideal state.
