The carpet was worn and dirty, the bathroom outdated, and the furniture (couch, chairs) were
uncomfortable
and seemed to come from a garage sale.

The bed was hard but not
uncomfortable
and the bathroom could use some upgrading, but for what they had to work with, it was adaquate and functional.

The bed linens give off the impression - and later prove to be -
uncomfortable
and leave you with that 'dirty' feeling.
