1. I usually find that historic hotels feel shabby, but the Peabody felt like I was transported a hundred years back at the height of it grandeur.

2. The whole place was run down - cracks in our bedroom window were selotaped together, service was shabby, fire alarm went off at dawn with no apology from staff when we arrived downstairs and noises from the water pipes while we tried to sleep.
