1. For us, we preferred to dine in Little Italy as we found the Wharf too big, brash, touristy and tacky (with a sprinkling of homeless and drunks wandering around) restaurant-wise it's probably great with kids, but as we were a couple we preferred the smaller more intimate restaurants up on Columbus.

2. That area is tacky tourists galore - so be prepared.
"just fair - "free breakfast" is an endless choice of processed fats & carbs " Read full review on TripAdvisor   1/5/2012 Vote
3. Fisherman's Wharf is the seaside touristy spot selling the usual souvenirs and tacky goods but also a good point to stay in and venture out from in San Francisco.
"Good spot in the Wharf " Read full review on TripAdvisor   9/25/2011 Vote
4. The Fishermans Wharf area is quite tacky.
"Good Hotel for a 1st time visit " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/27/2010 Vote
5. FW itself is somewhat 'tacky' and 100% focused on tourism, but the hotel is far enough to be away from that, yet close enough to walk there.
"Great hotel location, plenty to see and do in SF! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   2/22/2009 Vote
6. Location - Perfect, was a very short stroll to the heart of Fishermans Wharf, and although tacky, I did enjoy it and all tourists have to go.
"Perfect " Read full review on TripAdvisor   10/2/2006 Vote
7. Points for concern: - Parking is valet only and $32 + tax per night which is a rip off - Staff had a take it or leave it attitude - Fishermans Wharf is a tacky blemish on the face of a beatiful city - I would never stay there again - Hotel is in a noisy locationMy recommendation is that you stay at another hotel out of the area.
"OK Hotel in Grubby Neighbourhood " Read full review on TripAdvisor   9/20/2006 Vote
8. A concentration of very tacky souvenir stores and one-too-many colourful characters spoil the area although we still felt happy that we`d chose the Wharf as our base.
"Ideal Place to Experience SF at the right price " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/21/2006 Vote
9. I thought we were the only family who thought that Fishermans Wharf was a tacky Blackpool.
"Good hotel, " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/15/2006 Vote
10. It is convenient for all things touristy so I would have no problem staying here again, its close to cable cars, f-line, some useful bus routes and walking distance of most central places and felt safe at night, but just round the corner it gets so tacky.
"Its all been said before but heres my bit... " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/7/2006 Vote
