1. I didn't really expect it to be as good as the reviews, but I thought that any hotel where the staff considered a cat as one of their own couldn't be all that bad.

5. Caught up in the European travel chaos caused by bad weather, I had to call the Chelsea Pines several times to delay my arrival, cancel cars etc.

6. I was in town to run the New York marathon and stayed at the Chelsea Pines for 3 nights after finishing the run (4hrs 57 mins - not bad for a fat lad).

7. The bad: on the surface the room looked spotless and the bath was clean but I kicked a shoe under the bed and upon retrieval omg the dirt and debris under the bed, eek.

10. The bathroom was big, with a big warmly tiled shower and glass basin sinks (though water pressure in the shower and drainage in the sinks could have been a bit better - not bad enough to complain to staff).
