From the receptionists to the door man who helped us with our bags, they were very polite and all appreciated tips etc, as opposed to alot of other hotels in NYC where the staff can be
rude
and practically count the tip in front of you.

The Mercer IS NYC -- the staff is not
rude
at all -- these reviews are coming from people who probably do not travel on a regular basis and do not know how to go with the 'vibe' of the great youthful staff there.

I was shocked by how
rude
one employee was to me, so I complained to her supervisor.
