4. We walked past a lot of the more expensive hotels & through their pool areas, they were lovely, but we were much happier at the Aqua Bamboo So, the pro's.

7. We saved considerable vacation expense by cooking simple meals (kitchenette well supplied) after judicious food shopping at a local ABC store and (to save even more) at the Foodland in the Ala Moana Center where some buses between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki stop.

8. Although this hotel does not have a bar or restaurant, they allow you to bring in your own food (and cook on their barbeque if you want), and liquor/alcohol, this meant that we were able to save some money from expensive bar bills.

9. Of course, why sit around the pool when the beach is two short blocks away? We were some of the last people to get dropped off when we took the shuttle from the airport so we stopped at several other (more expensive) hotels on the way, and I have to say that we had the best location of all of them as far as proximity to the beach.
