1. The only reason I gave it a 'poor' rating instead of a 'terrible' is that the staff was friendly and the bar looked nice (when it was actually open, which was rarely).

2. Having emphasized that lets be brief: Big rooms, great beds and linen, great service, great amenities, walking distance to the white house (make sure the president is at home because we missed him, he went on a vacation without our permission) but (nobody is perfect) the breakfast is 'so so' (rather poor) and the parking fee (if you come by car) is not the cheapest.

8. Really poor front desk staff, room service that took forever to arrive (and the choices after 9 pm were unbelievably limited, there was no menu in my room, and the restaurant staff had a terrible time communicating what was available), and a bordering-on-seedy ambiance added up to a bad trip of a visit.
