1. We stayed at the Handlery for three nights last week (Mon-Wednesday), we were upgraded without charge from a quad room to two doubles with a poolside view, a welcome bonus and finale to a fortnight's holiday of sharing a room with two strapping teenagers.

Great stores and fairly upscale - Nieman Marcus, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, JCPenney, Macy`s, Abercrombie etc. (stuff us Canadians do not have in our malls)- The room was clean, towels were clean and the room had all the amenities we needed (fridge, hairdryer - however, they do not provide an iron) - we got a pool view and it was fairly quiet.

5. A quick trip back to the reception desk along with a small upgrade charge and we were moved to a much quieter room with a great view over the pool and hottub.

All staff members were friendly and helpful especially in the Lounge Bar where we dined most nights (love the bar menu try the Calamari)Overall, I wouldn`t recommend booking the base room type due to road noise, it`s only a little extra to get the pool view and we loved the complimentary shuttle.

7. True, it is next to a high way, but you still have a view of hills, beautiful houses, and a lovely golf course.

10. Hotel occupancy was at best 30% yet no bargaining power for paying extra for a room facing the pool, as opposed to viewing the freeway, and extra for having a balcony.
