Upon hindsight, my time would have been best spent 3 nights at La Cantera and 2 nights in
downtown
.

It is a lovely, sprawling resort nestled atop a hill, about 20 minutes from the airport and
downtown
San Antonio area.

The drive into
downtown
San Antonio was not bad(about 20 minutes) The rooms are well appointed, comfortable, and clean.

The La Cantera Resort is outside of San Antonio - plan to rent a car if you want to see the Riverwalk or Alamo as it is a good 20 minute ride to
downtown
.

Situated on the fringe of Texas Hill Country, La Cantera offers a great view of
downtown
San Antonio on side of the resort and dramatic views of the resort's two championship golf courses, and a peek into Hill Country, on the other.

My only concern is that it if you need/want to go into
downtown
, it is a good drive.

For those not traveling with a car, you can reach the La Cantera from
downtown
via the 94 express bus ($2.50, 30 minutes verses an expensive cab ride).
