We never rented a car because everything we wanted to see was either within walking distance, or across the
street
, Also, a bicycle can be rented from the kiosk across the
street
.

The location is superb, across the

The Victorian public areas are very lovely and quite opulent, no wonder so many people come in from the
street
just to gawk at the decor and the old photos/memorabilia.
"Well deserving of the excellent reputation it has. "

We opened the window in the evening, and all I could hear was the Lady Bird fountain and the clip-clopping of horses` hooves from the carriages that line up next to the Alamo--very few cars passed by on the quiet
street
.

For example, we were within one block of the riverwalk, the Alamo is literally across the
street
, the grandstands for the major parades were just outside the front door, and a significant shopping mall is in the adjacent property.
