1. We were in San Antonio for 2 days and wanted a convenient base for the Alamo, Riverwalk, etc. & the Hotel Menger fit the bill nicely.

5. Remember that almost all downtown hotels have a parking fee which can add quite a bit to the bill; there are some areas to self-park in the downtown area.

6. Every 'free' item that should have been included in the package had been charged to our bill: valet, champagne, etc. The air conditioner in our suite (chiller) wasn't working, but we didn't discover it until after dinner when we got back to the room late.

8. Apparently, they are famous for their mango ice cream and there's a picture of Bill Clinton by the dining room eating some.

9. OK, so it's past it's heyday when Roy Rogers or Bill Clinton visited there, but it's chuck full of Suites named for such diverse characters like Oscar Wilde and Lilly Langtry.
