1. I often try to engage the front desk people in a little friendly banter just to break the monotony, but they usually just look at me with that same bored 'we have to be here' expression on their faces.

6. Try as they might, obviously trained, professional front desk people cannot make up for dirty/unchanged sheets on a bed, an unlocked and open room upon check-in, and a spa/jacuzzi that wasn't working.
