1. I visited the breakfast diner (Rachel's) across the street to buy bottled soft drinks.

2. However, street metered parking is free after 6:00 p.m. on Fridays and through the weekend (if you can find a spot--we did luckily).

3. Of note: parking is $25 (we parked on the street for free); there is no ice machine (went to the bar); the restaurant was v nice, though somewhat expensive; liked the rooms and location very much.

8. There are good dining choices a block away on Main street for lunch and even more good choices for dinner & drinks in the other direction by the Ballpark.

9. For comparison, there is a hotel directly across the street from Jones Hall that is $30 or so cheaper than the Alden's rates booking directly through the hotels.
