2. For comparison, there is a hotel directly across the street from Jones Hall that is $30 or so cheaper than the Alden's rates booking directly through the hotels.

We booked and had gotten a great rate on Hotwire, and were very pleased with the proximity to the ballpark and restaurants, etc. There was a wedding when we were there, which kept the front desk busy, but the front desk staff were rude, impersonal, and were reluctant to believe us when we got to our 'nonsmoking room' and found it to reek terribly of smoke.
