We found the BART a bit confusing but the
Street
cars and buses are great and only cost $2 a trip.

Yes, there are plenty of homeless people around, but that applies to many areas of SF - and certainly anywhere on Market
Street
.

For snacks and such, make sure to go to Urban Market a couple blocks away on 8th
Street
- - it was a great place with a nice salad bar, prepared foods, juices, fruit/vegetables, organic snacks.

the hotel soon sorted me out with a new card and room :)The room was clean and tidy and the beds were to die for, we had a little balcony which looked out to Market
Street
, so the location is PERFECT.

Ofcourse it was a bit of indulgence to walk since the Bart was right at the corner of the
street
but I love walking.

You can also witness human faeces on the
street
due to the plentiful of homeless people around.

It's very convenient, half a block from Market
Street
, the F train, and a BART station.

But to get from Market to the hotel, you have to run the gauntlet past a bus stop on 8th
street
and some very down-and-out characters.

If you like a good freak show, strong smell of illicit drugs (in the hotel, on the
street
or underground) and/or being asked for freebies by the local
street
residents then this is the ideal location from you.

I normally stay further towards Union Square or 4th
street
area, but I couldn't find a decent price and ideally wanted a pool.
