9. I found a great deal on the Clift and figured we'd give it a shot for my husband's birthday -- I'm pretty picky about hotels and usually stay in the same one when we visit San Francisco (which is often), but I thought I'd broaden my horizons this time around.

10. It's easy to wander into the tenderloin if you aren't paying close attention, which isn't that big of a deal except that you won't wander past many cute and intriguing restaurants.
