1. I guess it should be noted that the people-watching is pretty entertaining in that neighborhood given the interesting mix of SF 'characters' and yuppies--my friend who lives in SF refers to the neighborhood as the 'TenderNob' and it really is right on the border between the swanky Nob Hill neighborhood and the down-at-the-heels Tenderloin.

2. I do not recommend waking south of the hotel as the neighborhood transitions pretty quickly from good to sketchy.

3. The neighborhood is good, it is on the edge of Tenderloin, and as with any urban city there was bums in the area which were annoying but not overly aggressive.
