1. This is a fantastic traditional townhouse hotel - dark wood, paintings, books and and palms - two minutes from Union Square.

2. There's a lovely library bar downstairs where residents are offered a free glass of wine in the evening, which means people congregate there and there's a really good atmostphere, that you don't often get in town hotels.

4. When in San Francisco, you can stay at any of the large chain hotels - and feel like you're in any city - or stay at the Hotel Rex and feel like you're in San Francisco.
