It is a great location to walk to the beach and to the shopping areas and practically to all of the basic sights like: The Bean, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park, Zoo etc. It is a bit of a treck to the Field Museum but you don't even notice the walk if you are in comfortable shoes because the parks are so beautiful and well manicured.
