We went to the reception area and one of the night duty clerks, who was polite, but on the disinterested side (I was tired so can be a tad abrupt, but never rude) and phoned the housekeeping
manager
and passed me over.

Hotel management was contacted that morning, mostly to suggest they make sure adjoining room doors are locked up by the housekeepers when strangers are using such rooms---they seemed disinterested, telling us to wait in our room for a
manager
---a
manager
who never came to the room.
