1. The walk to the beach was less than five minutes; snorkeling was pretty good at the small point between the mokapu and ulua beach parks (I thought better at the north side of the point than the south side).

7. There really is not a beach, per se, at this hotel, but there is an incredible beach about two minutes away at the fancy schmancy Grand Wailea and you can rent all the gear you need at the Marriott and walk it over there.
