1. Went to the Hilton Waikoloa Village hotel during the day to take advantage of their huge pools, water slides, water falls, etc. Kids said it was 'paradise' - my in-laws thought it was too much like a Disney-esque faux resort.

2. Having the kitchen (complete with blender!) was great - although we didn't cook at all, we bought some snacks, coffee, breakfast foods and beverages in Kona on our way from the airport - everyone was able to get up at their own pace and we had our own happy hour in the afternoons overlooking the golf course or by the pool.

3. We visited the big hotel once or twice, but it was a little too much like a theme park for us - mostly enjoyed the pool close to us and had a good base to head out to great snorkeling and beaches north and south of us.

4. From the spacious suites with full kitchens, to the activities for kids, to the huge (but cold) pool this is a great place to go.

7. The pool and hot tub were immaculately maintained and the pool bar prepared excellent drinks although the food at the pool bar was so-so (hamburgers and hot dogs) and closed quite early (around 7'ish in the evening).
