Local things to do:--Drive the scenic easterly shores (we saw whales breaching--fantastic)--Snorkel Hanauma Bay--Kayak Kailua beach --Hike a rainforest (Manoa Falls is easy)--See 360 views atop Diamond Head--Be moved by Pearl Harbor--Admire or join North Shore surfers (try Sunset beach and Waimea) --Swim at less crowded, less rocky & gentler-wave Ala Moana Beach--Taste the local cuisine - a mishmash of all the cultures that landed there (Ono's and Helena's Hawaiian food are yummy, inexpensive introductions; Alan Wong's offers delicious finer, fusion dining).
