5. Besides having grounds that are beyond lush and beautiful and architecture that reminded me of the best of Santa Barbara from my childhood, the entire staff - from grounds-keepers to upper management - were genuinely friendly, helpful and seemed to enjoy working at Bacara.

8. We booked a couples massage at the spa and the very helpful golf car driver (the resort is easily traveled between buildings with staff-driven golf carts) dropped us at the spa before taking our bags to the room.
